Dear reader,

By meditating on the fool-card in Tarot, I shed light on the nature of philosophy, and what it means to ‘do’ philosophy. In Tarot, the fool is both the first and the last card. As the first card, the fool symbolises curiosity, child-like wonder, and the desire to explore. But the fool is also the last card, for at the end of the journey that is Tarot, the fool finds only himself. This journey the fool undertakes, is archetypal for the journey of all souls, and symbolic for the ‘search after truth’ that we call philosophy. The texts features thoughts from Nietzsche and Plotinus, a perhaps strange combination of philosophers, which you have nonetheless come to know from me.
Consider taking a look at my text, and the rest of the site. It also hosts a previous article from me on Descartes, wonder, and wisdom: https://reactionair.nl/artikelen/domme-vragen/
